Tangly is a small, independent project, and we'd like it to feel as calm and trustworthy as the garden itself. This page explains what personal information we collect through this website, why, and what you can do about it.
Who we are
Tangly is run by Adam Lambe, a sole trader based in the United Kingdom. For the purposes of UK data protection law, we are the "controller" of the personal information described here.
You can contact us about anything on this page at hello@tanglyapp.com.
What we collect
Tangly hasn't launched yet, so this website collects very little:
- Your email address, if you choose to join the mailing list or waitlist.
- Basic technical information that any website receives when you visit, such as your IP address, browser type and the pages you view. This is logged automatically by our web host.
- Email engagement information, such as whether you opened one of our emails or clicked a link in it. Our mailing list provider records this by default.
We don't ask for your name, we don't run advertising, and we don't use analytics or tracking tools on this website.
How we use it
We use your email address to send you updates about Tangly, including news about the launch, Founders Grove, and our newsletter. We rely on your consent to do this, which you give when you sign up. You can withdraw it at any time by clicking "unsubscribe" at the bottom of any email, or by emailing us.
Technical information is used only to keep the website running, secure and working properly.
We will never sell your information or share it with anyone for their own marketing.
Who we share it with
We use a small number of trusted services to run this website. They process information on our behalf and only as needed to provide their service:
- Kit (formerly ConvertKit) stores our mailing list and sends our emails. Kit is based in the United States, so your email address will be transferred outside the UK. Kit uses recognised legal safeguards for these international transfers.
- Hostinger hosts this website and keeps standard server logs.
- Google Fonts supplies the typefaces on this website. When the fonts load, your browser connects to Google's servers, which means Google receives your IP address.
Cookies
This website doesn't set its own cookies. Our mailing list sign-up form, provided by Kit, may store a small identifier in your browser so it can recognise that you've already subscribed.
How long we keep it
We keep your email address for as long as you're subscribed. If you unsubscribe, you'll be removed from our mailing list. Server logs are kept by our host for a limited period and then deleted automatically.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law, you have the right to:
- ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you
- ask us to correct it or delete it
- object to, or ask us to restrict, how we use it
- ask for your information in a portable format
- withdraw your consent at any time
To do any of these, email hello@tanglyapp.com. We'll respond within one month.
If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, we'd love the chance to put it right, so please get in touch first. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the UK's data protection regulator, at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
Children
This website isn't intended for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their information. If you believe a child has signed up, please contact us and we'll remove their details.
When the app launches
Once the Tangly app is live, it will involve accounts, your garden and notes, and payments for paid plans. We'll update this policy before launch to explain how that information is handled. We'll let mailing list subscribers know when it changes.
Changes to this policy
If we update this policy, we'll change the date at the top of the page. If the changes are significant, we'll tell you by email.
